Lindsay May is a BC singer-songwriter who writes silken, blues-soaked country songs with an acoustic guitar and a mandolin close at hand. Her songs hold place, grit and heart, and she has carried them to stages across Canada, the United States and Europe.

Her debut album, Bronze & Blue (2008), was recorded with Mike Ohman and Steve Todd. Herizons Magazine wrote that it is "brimming over with foot tapping melodies" and that "her songs are that good." The Singles EP followed in 2010. Shimmer (2012) and the EP Girl With Grit (2014) were both recorded at Nimbus Studio, and Shimmer earned a Grade A- from The Vancouver Province, which wrote that "every guitar slide, breathy harmony and note is Nashville-quality." Acoustic 4.0 followed in 2019, along with Sweet Cinnamon, a Christmas album made with support from Creative BC. That makes four albums and two EPs. Of one record, Mossip Journal wrote: "ten perfect songs gathering together on one album reminding us that albums can be good from start to finish."

In 2012 Lindsay was named a Kerrville New Folk Finalist. She has showcased at NERFA and opened for Valdy, Shari Ulrich and John Gorka. Her credits include Harmony Arts Festival, Motown Meltdown at the Commodore Ballroom, Rocking River Festival, the Sasquatch Gathering, and onboard performances for VIA Rail. She has toured North America twice and Europe four times, all of it solo.

Writers keep landing on the same thing: her voice. earshot said that "with her unique phrasing and distinctive smoky tone, she doesn't emulate any singer of today. Lindsay is one of a kind." Roots Music Canada described her as "equipped with an engaging stage presence and a sincere gift for gab," blessed with "a larger-than-life voice" and "commanding complete attention." Scene Magazine called her "another example of the fine musical talent this country has to offer."

Christmas has been part of her catalogue for a long time, from the 2011 single "1,2,3,4, Wrapped to Go" and Sweet Cinnamon in 2019 to "Sweet Christmas Kiss" in 2023. Sweet Cinnamon is full of seasonal favourites, with her takes on "Silent Night," "O Holy Night" and "Little Drummer Boy" alongside songs like "Does Santa Reach the South Pole" and "Reindeer Touch Down." This year she adds a new chapter. "Solstice Night," released October 30, 2026, is a soft country-pop Christmas single about the longest night of the year and the healing light that follows. It is a song for the dark, a little gold and a little hopeful, written to sit beside Sweet Cinnamon and to be played again when the solstice arrives on December 21.

It is also a fresh start. Lindsay is relaunching this fall with new music, and a new EP is planned for 2027.

She does not stay in one room, either. When she is not on the songwriter stage, you may find her with her country-rock band The Mayhem, or lending her vocals to the funk project Majesty, a seven-piece with sax and trombone that plays dance-floor funk hits from the '70s and beyond. Same voice, different rooms.
